Outline (in English)

The Transformation of 'Artificial Humans' in Animation and Film
'Artificial humans' often appear in pop culture, such as movies and animated films, and these motifs have been directly or indirectly influenced by the images created in German culture in the past.
In this class, we will classify the four types of 'artificial humans,' trace their appearance in German-speaking cultures, and then consider how each motif has been 'reincarnated' in contemporary culture. We will also learn about the social, cultural, and historical contexts in Germany (and Japan, the U.S., etc.) that have contributed to the transformation of the post-incarnation image.
