Outline (in English)

The purpose of this course is to encourage participants to develop their reading, listening, and speaking abilities by use of the interesting news given by the British Broadcasting Corporation. Participants can view the videos accessible online, gain an insight into the life and culture of Britain, and speak on various subject matters. This course also aims to improve participants' academic writing skill they will be asked to acquire as undergraduates.
By the end of the course, participants are expected to view the videos easily, comprehend the text accurately, and write in English their short essays in clear paragraphs.
University guidelines suggest preparation and review should be around an hour a week for a one-credit course.
Grading will be decided based on mid-term examination (45%), term-end examination (45%), and short essay (10%).
