授業の概要と目的(何を学ぶか)Outline and objectives
英語3は、英語1と2で得たスキルと知識を基に、さまざまなトピックについて考え、意見を交換する機会を学生に提供することを目的としています。そのためにこのコースでは、学生は英語を使って、さまざまな観点からテクノロジー、エンターテイメント、デザインの新しい展開について学びます。また時事トピックを通じて時事問題を学び、さまざまな情報を取り入れて意見を交換します。さらに上記を達成するために必要な基本的英語スキルを訓練します。
到達目標Goal
Students will read authentic texts and listen to real-world people talk about live changing topics. Then they will develop their speaking confidence with model conversations and speaking tasks.
Students will learn key words, phrases, and grammar structures as they build language and visual literacy skills with real-life information. So they can express their own opinions speaking and in writing, including how to examine content from a critical-thinking perspective.
Students will not only learn about new real-world events, which continue to impact our lives, but also reflect and apply that knowledge while improving themselves and their English skills.

As a warm up activity, students will read a passage from a newspaper/magazine article or watch a brief segment of a TED Talk and then answer a basic question about the situation described. Vocabulary used in the Talk will be explored followed by reading, listening and speaking activities that expand on the theme. Different target language objectives will be emphasized during each class. For example, when an English text is read, the emphasis will not only be placed on building vocabulary and comprehension, but also classifying facts and opinions and reflecting on content to develop critical thinking. Video presentations will be used to develop vocabulary in context and as basis to inspire spoken communication, and finally written reflection and personalization.
Instructional opportunities will be provided for students to develop their own ideas and expand on the reading selections and TED Talk themes, discuss, write papers, and make presentations synthesizing their views on the content studied.
