This course focuses on enhancing English language proficiency (four skills - listening, speaking, reading and writing) in order to actively communicate and gain knowledge in the international environment.
到達目標Goal
This course’s aim is to further develop the four language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) that students acquired in previous courses. The course will expand on these abilities by placing special emphasis on active communication and discussion on a variety of topics. Students will be encouraged to develop critical thinking and to share their opinions and knowledge in discussions, group & pair work and through delivering presentations.

This course will be conducted entirely in English. Students will develop speaking skills by participating in a variety of activities, such as pair & group work, delivering a presentation and practicing parroting. They will be given the opportunity to converse on a variety of topics related to each unit and to present their own ideas. There will also be regular listening and reading exercises, as well as writing assignments based on the topics discussed in class.
Comments, feedback, explanations about assignments and answers to questions from students are given at the end of each class.

Listening and speaking: talking about music and different genres; Grammar explanation and practice: countable and uncountable nouns

本授業の準備学習・復習時間は、合わせて1時間を標準とします。
University guidelines suggest preparation and review should be around an hour a week for a one-credit course.

成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
Students are expected to actively participate in class, prepare presentations, complete writing assignments and homework and pass the final test.
- Active participation in class: 20%
- Writing assignments, homework and tests: 40%
- Presentations: 40%
In principle, no more than 3 absences will be permitted per semester for the student to receive academic credit in the course.
