Outline (in English)

<Course Outline>
The students are to study the four areas of English: Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking, and also to view Japan and Japanese culture from the international points of views. The students are to study economy and work, culture and society, language and culture, and science and technology. Through classes, the students will be able to understand things from many points of views.



<Goals>
The students will attain the following goals in this term:
1.To improve reading skills while paying attention to the structures of paragraphs.
2. To summarize the reading materials and express the students' opinions in English.
3. To use English-English dictionary or English-Japanese dictionary effectively.
4.To understand News in English and express the students' opinions in English.
5. To Study English by themselves even outside classroom.
<Work to be done outside class>
The students will prepare for the class and review the class as follows:
1.To prepare for the class by reading aloud and translating the text.
(The students have to understand where to ask in the next class.)
2.To review the class by reading aloud three times and by checking the content of the text and vocabulary)
The students need to study one hour for this class.
<Grading criteria>
Term-end paper 80% Attendance 20% Passing Grade 60%
The students cannot be absent from class more than four times for credits.
The students will be judged if they attain five goals above.
The students have to submit their papers to Hoppii before the set deadline. Other means will not be allowed. If the students cannot submit them due to circumstances beyond their control (illness, for example), the students need to attach medical certificate by a doctor. The students cannot correct papers that they once submitted.
Attendance includes the students' positive attitudes.
