Outline (in English)

As a rule, this class is face-to-face.
Science Bridge is based on the online science news site Science News Explores, with Humans, Space, and Life as its main categories. It is a fascinating mix of science and humanities subjects - ecology, brain science, robotics, air pollution, medicine, astronomy, and more. You students will be able to enhance your abilities and improve your English skills while having fun at the same time. In the 21st century, where scientific knowledge is essential, students will practice a exercises rich in vocabulary, comprehension, writing, listening, speaking, etc., with the goal of cultivating cosmopolitan nature and English language skills as 21st century citizens.

This course deals with the A, B, C. It also enhances the development of students' skill in D.
The class format of face-to-face may be unavoidably changed due to the spread of corona infection, details of which will be posted on the learning support system.
Since this is an exercise-type class, I would like you to speak up at least once per class.
Ideally, we would like to complete this text, which is one theme per unit, in three lessons. First we will listen to the CD video, paying attention to important words and phrases, then we will read and understand the Reading English text, and then we will do the exercises. At the end of the semester, we will choose an informative film to critique and exchange ideas.
In-text audio will be available through Kinseido website access.
The main method of feedback will be in-class critiques.

Preparation for each class is necessary. You will need to look up the vocabulary carefully before coming to class. You may use any dictionary you like. Read the English sentences in the reading section. After the reading of each chapter, you are expected to do the homework: practice exercises in each unit. The standard preparation and review time for this class is one hour combined.

Evaluation will be based on the contribution to the class (50%) and a written test (50%). 60 points or more is a passing grade.
In principle, students who are absent more than 3 times per semester will not be allowed to earn credits.
The above is the case for face-to-face classes, and appropriate changes will be made when face-to face classes are switched to online classes.
