Outline (in English)
Course outline: The aim of this course is to help students acquire communicative ability and confidence in speaking English. It also enhances the development of students’ skills in presentation skills.
Learning objectives: By the end of the course, students should be able to learn and do the followings; 1. Informative Presentations, 2. Persuasive Presentations, 3. Presentation Practice.
Learning activities outside of classroom: Before each class meeting, students will be expected to have read the relevant chapters from the text and complete the required assignments after each class meeting. Your required study time is at least one hour for each class meeting.
Grading Criteria/policies: Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following: In class contribution (presentation in English) 70%: Evaluation of Hoppii’s assignment 20%: Short reports: 10%.

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
英語の構文・論旨を正確に把握し、必要な知識・情報をつかみ取ること、また書き手の感情や意図をつかむことに重点を置く。得られた情報を鵜呑みにするのではなく、多面的・客観的観点から分析する、いわゆる批判的思考力の養成も行う。また、英語を使って人前で情報を伝えたり、自分の考えを説明したりする、いわゆる「プレゼンテーション能力」(Presentation Skills in English)も養う。さらに、英語リスニングのスキルを身につける。
到達目標Goal
日常生活や現代社会の様々なトピックに関して自分なりの意見をまとめ、それを口頭や文章で効果的に表現する力を養うことができる。必要な知識・情報を掴み取る力を養うことができる。英語で書かれたトピックの内容を理解し、その内容を他者に伝えることができる。他者の発言を尊重しつつ、自分の意見との妥協点を見い出すことができる。プレゼンテーションのための基礎的な知識を身につける。英語のリスニング・スキルアップを図ることができる。英語語彙力をアップさせることができる。テキストの予習・復習を通して文法、イディオム、短いフレーズを理解することができる。英語の短いフレーズは何度もドリル練習をして暗記することができる。

この授業は対面による講義形態で行い、担当教員作成のオリジナルテキストに沿って授業を進めます。授業ではテキストの内容について解説し、演習問題の正答などのフィードバックは授業支援システムのHoppiiを積極的に活用します。テキストの内容については、ペアワーク、グループワークにより意見交換をします。事前に配布するプリント、Hoppiiに出された課題に取り組み、授業時間以外でも受講生は継続的に学習します。学生は英語によるプレゼンテーションを行い、自分の意見を他者に伝える機会を持ちます。さらにHoppiiシステムを活用して、TOEIC(R)、TOEFL、英検等の資格試験対策も早期に取り組みます。正答のフィードバックも、主にHoppiiシステムを使います。

指示された文献等を事前に読む。テキストにある演習問題の予習・復習をする。授業内で示される課題（レポート、演習問題)に取り組む。準備学習・復習・宿題等は積極的にHoppiiの学習システムを活用する。尚、本授業の準備学習・復習時間は、合わせて1時間を標準とします。

70％ 平常点: 英語によるプレゼンテーション等、
20％ 小テスト: Forms、Hoppiiに出された課題の評価
10％ レポート: エッセー(英文)、レポート課題等の内容評価
尚、各学期欠席が４回以上の場合は、原則として単位修得を認めない
