Outline (in English)
Course Outline
This class aims to help you develop your listening and reading skills.
Learning Objectives
Students will build up their vocabulary, learn the pronunciation features of English, and acquire reading strategies.
Learning Activities Outside of Classroom
Students will be expected to have completed the required assignments before each class meeting. Study time will be two hours for each class.
Grading Criteria/Policy
The final grade will be based on the following criteria:
1. Final Exam 50%
2. Reports 20%
3. Classroom Participation 30%

CNNのニュース映像とスクリプトを使用し、様々なトピックについて学びながら、リスニングとリーディングを中心に総合的な英語力の向上を目指します。
到達目標Goal
・英語の文章を正確に読む力をつけます
・論理的な思考力を養います
・語彙力を増やします
・様々な英語（Englishes）の発音に慣れます
・英語のリズムを身につけます

一つのunitを二回の授業で扱います。前半は語彙とリスニングを、後半はリーディングを中心に進めます。前半はExamplesを小テストとして行い、DefinitionとExamplesの答え合わせをした後、Blanks to Fill inでリスニングをし、答えの確認をします。後半はJudgments to Makeを小テストとして行い、リスニングのスクリプトの訳をした後、Judgments to Makeの答え合わせをします。

授業時間外の学習（準備学習・復習・宿題等）Work to be done outside of class (preparation, etc.)
予習を前提として授業を行います。前半はWords and Phrases to StudyのDefinitionとExamplesを、後半はニュースのスクリプトとJudgments to Makeを予習して下さい。本授業の準備・復習時間は、各1時間を標準とします。

成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
テスト50％、小テスト20%、平常点30%で評価します。遅刻は授業開始時刻から30分までとし、遅刻三回で欠席とみなします。各学期欠席が四回以上の場合は、原則として単位取得を認めません。
