Outline (in English)

Students will continue to advance their reading and listening skills using materials in English. In the autumn semester, students will be given opportunities to express their ideas and opinions, and to relate their own experiences to topics raised in the textbook. As a result of each lesson, students will learn to:
- comprehend lengthy passages on various topics in English
- convey their ideas, opinions and experience on topics raised in the textbook
- use their reading skills (e.g. close-reading, speed-reading) for a broad variety of purposes
Students are expected to do weekly preparation for the course and a course review. Detailed information is given by the instructor in the first week. Assignments are designed to take approximately one hour.
Evaluation will be based on Hosei University criteria for grading,
as follows:
- Quiz (mid-term and final) 50%
- Participation in class activities 50%
* Students who are absent for four or more lessons will be failed automatically.
