Outline (in English)

【Outline and Goal】
This course introduce students several anthropological perspectives on modern society, such as Nation-states as a political system, human rights as a modern ideology, population control as technology of governance, and total institutions for educations and health care. Students should understand modern societies as well as anthropological perspectives on societies in general, through this course.

【Requirements】
Students are expected to study about 2 hours for a week for preparation and review of classes. Each students will submit written comments on contents of each lectures(45%) and be expected to oral comments on class(5%), as well. The final writing assignment is also required for confirm students achieve the goal of this course(50%).
