Outline (in English)

(Course outline)
What is modern society? How can we understand it? How does society affect individual lives? The aim of this course is to help students acquire the basic sociological concepts and terms, and to develop a beginning critical perspective on the structure of our modern society.

(Learning Objectives)
The goals of this course are to understand the basic issues, principles, and approaches of sociology.

(Learning activities outside of classroom)
Since materials such as resumes and reference materials are distributed in advance, grasp the content of the lesson as a preparatory lesson and review it after the lesson.
・Two hours of advanced study: study concepts and read textbooks and references in advance.
・2 hours of post-course learning: Organize notes, look up textbooks, and read related literature.

(Grading Criteria /Policy)
Final exams (50%), preparation and review tasks (30%) and participation in biweekly group discussions (20%).
