Outline (in English)
In this course, Western paintings will be mainly discussed, along with sculptures and decorative arts, in order to learn about the Western art history since the Renaissance, and the establishment of the art museums in the Western society. Students will learn about how art has contributed to the society．
The goal of the course is following:
1) Acquiring the knowledge on Western paintings, sculptures and decorative arts since the Renaissance, and the skill of viewing from various perspectives.
2) Acquiring the knowledge on the Western art history since the Renaissance, and understanding the background of the paintings of respective eras.
3) Acquiring the knowledge on the establishment of the art museums in the Western society, and learning about how art has contributed to the society．
The lecture will be conducted online using the slides including the picture of art works. A simple report will be requested every class for checking your understanding on the theme. Also, you can add a question about the lecture. You can get some feedbacks for the report and questions on the next class. In addition to weekly reports, a term paper is requested.
No textbooks are designated. References for art works would be given in the lecture.
Although no preparation is requested, viewing art works is recommended for more fruitful experience. I expect you of spending two hours per week for the lecture, and for example, spending one hour for weekly reports and a term paper, and one hour for viewing art works.
Your grade in this course is to be evaluated based on the following basis.
Weekly report: 50 %
Term paper: 50 %
Note that the term paper is mandatory, but not enough, to get the pass-mark.
The first class is guidance and introduction for the course. I expect you to view it if you seriously consider taking the course.

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
芸術の中でも主に西洋絵画、加えて彫刻・装飾美術を取り上げ，ルネサンス以降の西洋美術史と欧米での近代的な美術館の成立について学びます。これを通して、美術が社会にどう関わってきたか、現在どう関わっているかについて考えます。
到達目標Goal
1) ルネサンス以降の西洋絵画、彫刻・装飾美術に関する知識を深め、様々な視点から作品を鑑賞できる。
2) 西洋絵画が歴史的にどのような変遷をたどっていったかを学び、絵画の背景にある歴史を理解することができる。
3) 美術館の成立過程について、近代の美術館がどのように成立したか、歴史的な背景を含めて理解できる。

スライドでの講義、作品鑑賞を中心に行います。また、授業内でそれぞれのテーマに関する簡単なレポートを実施し、理解度の確認を行います。
レポートや質問については、適宜講義内で取り上げてフィードバックを行います。

西洋絵画におけるジャンル分けを解説し、主なジャンルの作品を紹介する．
第3回[対面/face to face]：風景画の成立
風景画について、ジャンルとしての成立から印象派に至るまでの流れを解説する．
第4回[対面/face to face]：ルネサンス美術
ルネサンス美術の代表的な作家・作品を紹介し解説する．
第5回[対面/face to face]：北方ルネサンス・バロック
北方ルネサンス、バロックの代表的な作家・作品を紹介し解説する．
第6回[対面/face to face]：新古典主義・ロマン主義
フランス革命期の絵画について、主題の変化や背景の理念等に触れながら作品を紹介する．
第7回[対面/face to face]：印象派
印象派の作家・作品およびその時代背景・技法について解説する．
第8回[対面/face to face]：ポスト印象派・新印象派
印象派に強く影響を受けた画家を中心に、作家・作品を紹介する．
第9回[対面/face to face]：世紀末から20世紀
世紀末から第二次世界大戦前までの西洋絵画の潮流・運動について概説する.
第10回[対面/face to face]：彫刻
西洋の彫刻について、古代ギリシアからロダン以降の近代彫刻まで概説する．
第11回[対面/face to face]：万博と装飾美術
アール・ヌーヴォー、アール・デコ、及びこれらと関連の深い万国博覧会について解説する．
第12回[対面/face to face]：ルーヴル美術館の設立とフランスの美術館
西洋における美術館の成り立ちについて、ルーヴル美術館を一例として取り上げ、更に現在のフランスの美術館について解説する．
第13回[対面/face to face]：欧米の美術館
欧米の代表的な美術館をいくつか取り上げ、その成立や現在、及び所蔵作品について解説する．
第14回[対面/face to face]：まとめ
授業を通しての総括を実施する．また、各回で触れられなかった事項を補足として取り上げる．
授業時間外の学習（準備学習・復習・宿題等）Work to be done outside of class (preparation, etc.)
授業内レポートとは別に、学期中に授業に関するレポートを課します。また、授業外でも、多くの作品に接することが望ましいです。
本授業の準備・復習時間は、各2時間を標準とします。そのうち半分程度を授業に関するレポートおよび期末レポート、残りを授業外での作品鑑賞や教養の涵養などにあてることが想定されています。

成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
平常点（授業内レポート）；５０％
期末レポート；５０％
期末レポートの提出を、単位取得の必須条件とします。
ただし、成績は平常点と期末レポートの双方を加味して評価するため、期末レポートを提出しても必ずしも単位が取得できるわけではないことに注意してください。
