Outline (in English)

This series of lectures is intended to overview the relationship between art and globalization from the 1990s. By touching upon Venice Biennale, Documenta, art fairs and art museum, students are encouraged to consider contemporary art practice in relation to neo liberalism. Towards the end of the course, students attend an exam and write a short essay.
Students are encouraged to approach contemporary art in multiple ways that is profoundly related to politics and economics today. With contemporary art, which questions preconceived ideas and sheds light on a path to the future, they will also gain an insight into the globalized society of today.
Students are encouraged to visit art museums and galleries in order to discover art today as well as look into the terminologies introduced in the course. In addition, it is recommended that each lecture be reviewed for 30 minutes. Grading will be determined by reaction paper (20%) and an exam at the end of the course (80%).
