This series of lectures aims to give an overview of the history of modern art with reference to other academic dsciplines such as philosophy, sociology or anthropology. Following the transformation of art in the modern age in relation to that of society and the cultural climate, the students nurture an ability to envisage a relationship between art and modern society.
Students are encouraged to visit art museums and galleries in order to discover art today as well as look into the terminologies introduced in the course. In addition, it is recommended that each lecture be reviewed for 30 minutes. Grading will be determined by reaction paper (20%) and an exam at the end of the course (80%).
