Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
This course deals with the historical explores the administration, the economy and the society of Japan in the early modern period including the social system of Edo and its surrounding areas.
【Learning Objectives】
By the end of the course, students should be able to understand the economy and the society of Japan in the early modern period.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Before and after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content.
【Grading Criteria /Policy】
Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following
Term-end examination: 70%、Short class reports : 30%、
