Outline (in English)

<Course outline> After overviewing the development of ancient Athenian democracy, we will focus on Athenian legal system and how it works. In particular, homicide trials will be discussed in detail.
<Learning objectives> Students are able to understand ancient Athenian legal system and how it works.
<Learning activities outside of classroom> Students have to spend at least two hours on preparation for and review of each class respectively. They are expected to read relevant books, such as those listed in the reference section, and learn by themselves. They also have to work on assignments given by the instructor.
<Grading policy> Class participation and assignments: 50% Final report: 50%
