Outline (in English)

<Course outline>
British History from the 16th century to the 19th century
In this lecture, the formation of the British Empire and the influence of the empire on Britain and her dependencies will be discussed.
<Learning objectives>
1) Students are able to acquire basic knowledge about modern and contemporary British history
2) Students are able to understand British history in view of its interaction with the rest of the world.
3) Students are able to learn diverse perspectives in history.
<Learning activities outside of classroom>
Students have to spend at least two hours on preparation for and review of each class respectively. They are expected to read relevant books and learn by themselves.
<Grading policy>
Class participation and assignments: 20% Final examination: 80%
