Outline (in English)

This course is an introduction and survey course in Bioethics. The purpose of this course is introduce students to bioethics through critical thinking contemporary issues. Through this course, students will be given not only the knowledge and comprehension of relationship between biotechnology and ethics, but also the opportunity to focus on their life and death.
Students will first be introduced the history of ethics, foundational theories in bioethics, and the basic concepts and theoretical framework of bioethics.
Topics will include: what is happiness, health-care, responsibility, system of value, informed consent, death and dying, and the issue of beginning of life( on abortion, designer baby, prenatal testing etc.).
Through this course, students will be able to think carefully and to express their own views more clearly through their own positions on bioethical/ medical issues.
