Outline (in English)

In this course, for those who are learning logic for the first time, students will learn how to use language in everyday life, logic in academic reports, as well as how to make arguments and counterarguments. Then, in the second half of the class, students will learn the basic knowledge and techniques of logic that are necessary for thinking correctly by extracting patterns of argumentation structures.
By the end of the course, students should be able to do the followings:
A. By using appropriate logic such as syllogisms, students can organize their thoughts and think in a coherent manner.
B. Students will be able to think critically by using two types of arguments, verification and alternative argumentation.
C. Students can distinguish between expressing their emotions and discussing rationally, and identify the difference between mere personal opinions and logical arguments.
Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content.
Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following.
Term-end examination: 60%、in class contribution and quiz: 40%.
