Outline (in English)

Elements of Modern Philosophical Logic of Knowledge, Propositional Logic and Predicate Logic:

Students will first learn the basic ideas of Western philosophers, beginning with Bacon and Descartes, about logic, which is the mainstay of modern scientific knowledge. Then, students will learn modern propositional logic beginning with Boolean logic, as well as the fundamentals of predicate logic, and learn how to use logical language. In addition, students will deepen their understanding of logical wording by acquiring various methods of expression, such as logical algebra, truth tables, and Venn diagrams. This will enable students to learn about the logical foundations of modern science and the fundamentals of logically correct wording.

Students will learn the rudiments of philosophical logic, modern propositional logic, and predicate logic.
(1) Students will be able to clarify the logical basis of modern science by means of philosophical logic.
(2) Students will be able to produce logically correct sentences by means of propositional logic.
(3) Students will be able to clarify the logical meaning of sentences by predicate logic.

[Learning activities outside of classroom]
The preparation (2 hours): To understand what we learn in our class next time.
The brush-up (2 hours): (1) To try mini-examination on "Hoppii". (2) To review the lesson.

[Grading Criteria / Policy]
The grades are given in terms of the philosophical logic of the modern science, the propositional logic of our time and the predicate logic elementary understood. In this regard the following two aspects are respected. (1) 70%: The score of the mini-examinations, the attendance and the attitudes. (2) 30%: The score of the final examination.
