Outline (in English)

The main aim of this course is to give students an understanding of the fundamental problems dealt with the Western philosophy after Descartes.
By the end of the course, students should be able to understand the followings:
1. The problems which have arisen from Descartes' dualism.
2. Kant's and Husserl's solutions to the problems.
3. The problem of nihilism pointed out by Nietzsche, and his soluitions to the problem.
Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content.
Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following: Term-end examination (60%), Short reports (30%) and Contribution in class (10%).
