Outline (in English)

In this class, we read through the literary work "Gozonji-no-shobaimono" in the Edo Period. Through the work we can touch on the diversity of Edo's publishing culture. You will experience Edo by actually reading and listening to various media that people were living in in the region & the era of Edo. Sometimes you can listen the audible media.
The main goal of this course is to understand the characteristic culture, customs, and sensations of the Edo period through the textbook "Gozonji-no-shobaimono".
Another goal is to be able to read simple publications and printed matter written in cursive script (Hentaigana).
Bring the materials (distributed prints) necessary for reading the cursive script every time, and read them before class. It takes 2 hours to prepare for reading comprehension and 2 hours to review, for a total of 4 hours.
