Outline (in English)

【Outline (in English)】
Theme: Japanese literature and folklore
"Folk" (folklore) refers to the way of life and mindset that
has been collectively formed in the lives of ordinary people
in a certain community or a specific community and has been
passed down through the ages.
increase. The range of "region (local)" can be set in various
ways, such as one village for small and Japan in the world
(global) for large. In this class, from the perspective of
Japan in the world, the world of Japanese literature research
that incorporates "folklore" that targets such "folklore" will be
discussed in "Manyoshu," "Kojiki," and "Nihonshoki." We will
introduce examples mainly from the literature of the upper
generation and used, such as "Fudoki", "Kokin Wakashu", and ¯
"Genji Monogatari". Folklore Japanese literature research
transcends the individuality, creativity, and timeliness of
individual authors and works, and is the bottom of our hearts
today.
Folklore Japanese literature research leaves behind a collective
spirit that is thought to be transmitted to the bottom of our
hearts today, transcending the individuality, creativity, and
timeliness of individual authors and works. It can be said that
it is an attempt to explore through the linguistic expressions
that have been made. Because of this personality, it seems
unsuitable for those who expect to pursue the artistry of
"individuals" (one author or work).
Goal
This lecture aims at the following two goals
・ Compared to general literary research, students can broaden
your horizons by learning about the characteristics and
significance of folklore-based methods of viewing literature.
・As the subject name indicates, students can learn an example
of an interdisciplinary approach by touching on fields dealing
with the integrated area of the humanities and social sciences.
Work to be done outside of class
The standard preparatory study and review time for this class
is 2 hours each. I would like you to become familiar with the
world on a daily basis, as you can use a modern translation
without having the image of a class up to high school in
classical literature.
Grading criteria
Final exam 85%. Others (questions, content of reaction papers
sometimes asked, etc.) 15%
