【Learning Objectives】
We will read through the original novels after watching films based on contemporary Japanese literature. We plan to highlight the following 6 or 7 titles after carefully selecting from the works released in 2023.
By comparing and analyzing literary expressions and visual expressions of the same story events, we will deepen our thoughts about specific expressions and techniques of the book and film media. Our aim to acquire the ability to read novels from the perspective of what is literature-specific expression.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Although the class will be conducted in a manner that can be understood without having read the original novel beforehand, it is best to read the novel in order to grasp the content of the story and the relationships between the characters. Students are encouraged to re-read and re-watch the novels and films discussed in class outside of class to deepen their understanding of the works. Your study time will be more than four hours for a class.
【Grading Criteria /Policy】
Grade will be based on reports 100%.
There will be no examinations.
The theme of the report is "Select one of the novels discussed in class and wrapping up the report". Based on the content of the class, develop a "theory" in your own words about the novel you have chosen, based on the theme you have set for yourself.
