【授業の概要(Courseoutline)】
To acquire basic knowledge of the objectives, content, significance and characteristics of social studies and civics education; to deepen understanding of the content and teachingmethods, evaluationmethods,andvariousissuesin contemporarysociety; and toacquire thebasis for creating classes thatare inlinewiththeessenceof social studiesat the secondary level. Insocial studiesandcivics education, therearemanyteacher-led,knowledge-intensiveclasses,such as "chalkandtalk". However, futureeducationwill require studentstobeabletothink, express, andpresent theirown ideasintheirownwordsinresponsetothe"why"questionsand issuestheyfaceintheirownlearning.Wehopethatstudents willacquireboththeoreticalandpractical skillsby learning thetheoryof objectives, academicskills, teachingmaterials, andteachingmethodologyfromtheperspectiveof thewhole pictureofsocialstudiesandcivics.
【到達目標(LearningObjectives)】Thefollowingthreepointsaredefinedastheobjectivesofthis course.
1.Togainacomprehensiveunderstandingof thecontentof social studiesandcivicseducationandtoacquire thebasic knowledgenecessaryforsecondarysocialstudiesteachers.
2.Tounderstandtheimportanceofteachingdesignbasedon students’actualconditionsanditsmethodology. 3.UnderstandtheeffectiveuseofICTandteachingmaterials according to the characteristics of juniorhighschool social studiesandseniorhighschoolcivics,andbeabletoapplythem toteachingdesignandpractice.
4.Beabletodesignlessonsandcreatelessonplansbasedon specificclassroomsituations.
5.Beable toanalyzeclassroompracticeappropriatelyand considerspecificpointsforimprovementinteachingmaterials, questioning, blackboardwriting, learningmethods, etc., in ordertocreatebetterclasses.
【成績評価の方法と基準(GradingCriteria/Policy)】Comprehensiveevaluationwillbebasedonclassparticipation and contribution (15%), post-class study assignments from sessions 2-27 (25%), group development and practice of teachingmaterials(30%),andfinalassignment(30%).
