Outline (in English)

Gerontology is an interdisciplinary subject dealing with the aging of humans and society surrounding the elderly. The lecture aims to comprehensively describe the biological, psychological, social-psychological, and sociological perspectives of gerontology and explain the themes, especially in social gerontology. On the other hand, because of the multidisciplinary nature of gerontology, the lecture aims to exemplify how values embedded in perspectives of gerontological theories differently affect the understanding of social issues surrounding aging and its policy response.
By the end of the course, students are expected to understand the basic terms and theories concerning aging.
Before the lecture, students must tackle assignments (about 2 hours). After the class, students are asked to answer quizzes (about 2 hours).
The course's grading will be based on quizzes/assignments (40%) and term-reports (60%).
