Outline (in English)

【Course outline】The local community of the Edo period is considered to be the historical starting point of modern Japanese local society, and it is considered to be an important starting point when considering the process from there to the present. . It is also expected that by learning about the formation of local communities in the Edo period, we will be able to critically reconsider the state of the modern society to which we belong. For this reason, in this course, we will focus on the villages that formed the foundation of local communities in the Edo period, and deepen our understanding of the mechanisms, ideas, and common sense that made up the communities in question.
【Learning Objectives】
1.To be able to explain how the relationship between villages and farmers in the Edo period was. 2.To be able to explain the process of gradual transformation of village society through the Edo period.

This course does not require study other than the specified textbook.
