Outline (in English)

Course outline: This course aims to acquire engineering knowledge in architectural planning and design that can be explained theoretically and quantitatively. The main topics are the relationship between climate and buildings, including comfort conditions, solar radiation, ventilation, building heat transfer, and humidity. Students will work on these topics by solving exercises.

Learning Objectives:(1) Understand and master the terms and units used in environmental engineering. (2) Understand the basic theory of required ventilation rate and natural ventilation. (3) To understand the basic theory of thermal environment and its application to actual phenomena. (4)To understand the properties of moist air and condensation mechanisms and to master the methods of preventing condensation.

Learning activities outside of classroom: Students are required to study the relevant parts of the textbook in advance. In addition, students are expected to review the textbook and perform similar exercises in the textbook. The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.

Grading Criteria /Policy: The evaluation will be based on a total of 20% of the exercises and 80% of the examinations.
