Outline (in English)

The aim of this class is to help students build confidence and vocabulary to deal with a variety of conversational situations
in English. Students will practice skills such as initiating
and building a conversation. Role-plays and discussions will
be incorporated to allow students to improve their general
conversation skills.

By the end of the course, students should be able to do the
followings:
― Acquire fundamentals of English speaking skills.
― Increase vocabulary, broaden English speaking skills, gain
confidence.
― Develop critical thinking skills.
[Learning Activities Outside of Classroom]
You need to spend the same amount of time as the lesson itself
for self-study both preview and review. Be sure to review what
has been said during class to prepare yourself for next class.
[Grading Criteria / Policy]
40%: Participation in class activities.
40%: Presentation, Role-plays, and Speeches.
20%: Assignments and Quizzes.

春学期に引き続き、平易ながらも、学生生活・日常生活のいずれの場面においても汎用性の高い「使える英語表現」を学びます。

― Increase vocabulary, broaden English speaking skills, gain confidence.
― Develop critical thinking skills.

日本の大学に交換留学生として来日したアメリカ人学生が、留学先の日本人学生の助けを借りながら、さまざまな日本の文化や習慣を体験するという設定で１ユニット１トピックで各回が構成されています。１ユニットを２回に分けて、前半では、映像教材の視聴とそれに関連する語彙や表現を学ぶインプットの機会とし、後半では、ロールプレイや、各回のテーマに応じた表現をもとに実際発話するなどのアウトプットの機会として進めます。
