Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
This class aims to improve vocabulary, reading comprehension, and sentence production skills through exposure to English texts on sports-related topics.

【Learning Objectives】
The course will aim to achieve the following three goals First, students will develop the vocabulary to translate important words and phrases from textbooks into Japanese and English. In addition, students will develop reading comprehension skills to understand the concept of the "ladder of abstraction" and to be able to identify claims and evidence. Finally, students will develop sentence production skills so that they can speak and write the expressions they have learned.

【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Students will be expected to have completed the required assignments after each class meeting. Your study time will be more than four hours for a class.

【Grading Criteria /Policy】
Ordinary scores will be weighted at 50%, basically based on the principle of full attendance, and class participation will be evaluated. In-class examinations will carry a weight of 50%, and tests and submissions in each class will be evaluated.

本授業はスポーツにまつわるトピックの英文に触れながら、語彙力と読解能力、文産出技能の向上を目指す。

到達目標Goal

語彙力：教科書が扱う重要語句の8割を日英訳できる。
読解能力：「抽象の梯子」の概念を理解し、主張と根拠を特定できる。
文産出技能：学習した表現を書ける。

2コマで1ユニットを進め、前半では語彙テストや映像教材、グループワークを用いた読解で記事の理解に努める。後半では前半の内容を理解しているかの確認や、Warm-up Question の調査をグループでまとめて報告する。ライティングは提出物として扱い、各回でフィードバックを行う。
