Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
This is a grammar and reading comprehension class for low-mid intermediate level students. The aim of this class is to become able to read and speak about general subjects.

【Learning Objectives】
By the end of the course, students should be able to do the followings:
-Read a little longer text and sentences about general things and social themes.
-Understand and use the vocabulary and grammar of the first half of the N2 level from JLPT N3.
-Summarize, think about, and talk about what you have read.

【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Students will be expected to complete all required all assignments. Your study time is at least two hours for class meeting.

【Grading Criteria/Policy】
Grading will be decided based on the following:
Class participation: 30%
Assignments :15%
Quizzes:15%
Mid-term Exam:20%
Final Exam:20%

※Students who miss 4 or more times class will not be eligible for the credit on this course, nor take the final exam.

※Japanese 5S (Reading & Grammar I) and Japanese 5S (Reading & Grammar Ⅱ) are the same textbook, but I(L1-L4)and Ⅱ(L5-L8) have different lessons.
We strongly recommend that you take both Ⅰand Ⅱ classes in one semester in order to improve your learning.
It is also possible to take them separately.
