Outline (in English)

Gender based policies have been advancing in various fields after the Basic Act for Gender Equal Society was established in 1999. However, when comparing to other countries on the GGGI (Global Gender Gap Index), Japan continues to rank below 100. At this lecture, we will understand the current state and issues of gender based policies facing present day Japan, and after analyzing the main causes, will discuss policies to solve these issues.
Concretely dissecting the Fourth Basic Plan for Gender Equality, we will deepen knowledge from policies on the promotion of women's active participation, work-life balance, violence based on gender, and gender equality in education and the media. We will analyze the current situation and issues in Japan based on statistical data and cases, and think of a plan to solve these issues through a discussion.
