Outline and objectives

English 3 builds upon the skills and knowledge gained from English 1 and 2 and aims to provide students with further opportunities to think critically and express their opinions on a variety of topics using English. In this course students will spend time using English to learn about American culture from a number of diverse perspectives. Students will learn about American culture through various sources of information and will incorporate a variety of topics about which they will express their opinion. In addition, students will also practice the fundamental English skills ( reading, listening, writing and speaking ) necessary to accomplish the above.

Goal

Students will read and understand rather simple English texts without relying too much on dictionaries for understanding.
Students will learn to express their own opinion in speaking and writing, including how to examine content from a critical thinking perspective.
Students will not only learn about American culture, which continues to have a large impact on the world, and be able to apply that knowledge while improving their English skills.
