Outline (in English)

The aims of this course are:
1. To encourage students to further develop their English proficiency by drawing on what they have learned in English 1 and English 2.
2. To train students to learn how to think critically by examining closely various authentic materials offered in English, and thus to develop the ability to effectively express their own thoughts and opinions.
3. To introduce students to the connections between cultural icons and political economy, focusing on specific keywords like 'Brexit' and 'the Establishment'.
4. To help students to get access to interpretations of contemporary social and cultural issues and events through training their skills in linguistic and cultural competencies as well as stimulating the imagination.
5. To provide students with an opportunity to participate in discussion, improving their presentational skills on a group or individual basis.
