Outline (in English)

United States military bases in Japan unevenly exist in Okinawa prefecture. U.S. armed forces exercise exclusive rights over them. And the Japanese authorities often can not exercise the right of search or inspection with respect to the accidents of U.S. military aircraft. Before the reversion of Okinawa, Okinawan court could not have criminal jurisdiction over the members of U. S. armed forces, civilian component and their dependents. Even after the reversion, Japanese court often cannot exercise the criminal jurisdiction over them. In post-war Okinawa and foreign relations 2, we consider the U.S.-Japan Status of Forces Agreemen (SOFA or Chii-Kyotei) poviding the conditions of the stationing of the U.S. military forces. And forcusing SOFA problems, we discuss the history of the U.S.-Japan-Ryukyu/Okinawa relations.
