Outline (in English)

Reading Kant's Critique of Practical Reason: Crucial Points of Kant's Moral Philosophy

Beside the section III of the Groundwork of the Metaphysics of Morals, in the first half of the Critique of Practical Reason: the "Analytik of Pure Practical Reason", Kant investigates into the moral "categorical imperative" and justifies our moral freedom. In our autumn semester we continue to read the last section of the "Analytic": "Critical Elucidation of the Analytic of Pure Practical Reason" from the last page we have read in our spring semester. In this section Kant's concept of freedom is compared to other concepts of freedom and sharpened. Examining Kant's argumentation we consider the meaning of Kant's concept of freedom. At last we read the opening pages of the section III of Kant's Groundwork of the Metaphysics of Morals to verify Kant's concept of freedom.
