Outline (in English)
To succeed in a globalized world, business people must possess the skills and knowledge to understand, communicate and negotiate with people from a wide range of cultures and countries. The aim of this course is to provide students with opportunities to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of international communication and Japanese culture.

To succeed in a globalized world, business people must possess the skills and knowledge to understand, communicate and negotiate with people from a wide range of cultures and countries. The aim of this course is to provide students with opportunities to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of international communication and Japanese culture.
到達目標Goal
In this course, students will (1) acquire a deeper knowledge of international communication and intercultural issues, (2) gain more confidence in expressing opinions and ideas about Japanese culture in English, (3) increase their understanding of other cultures, and (4) improve their academic and critical thinking skills.

This is an online class with no face-to-face classes in the Spring semester. Classes will be held in real time in Zoom or through on-demand lectures in Google Classroom. Active participation is essential. Students will work in pairs and in groups and give presentations based on topics of personal interest. Students are expected to complete 1 hour of homework each week to prepare for the next class. Students will submit assignments and receive feedback through Google Classroom. This course will be fun and exciting with the help of enthusiastic students who want to learn from each other and are committed to improving their English skills.

授業時間外の学習(準備学習・復習・宿題等)Work to be done outside of class (preparation, etc.)
Students will use Zoom and Google Classroom in this course.It is important that you are well prepared for each class and meet on time. If you are absent, you must complete all missed assignments, inform me in person or by email, and be ready for the next class.
University guidelines suggests preparation and review for a one-credit course to be around an hour a week.

Students are required to refer to various sources when researching for writing and presentation assignments. Most research will be done on the internet and in the library.
成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
You will be graded on:
30% Active participation in English
30% Weekly homework & assignments
30% Two presentations
10% Final paper
More than three absences will seriously affect your final grade.
