Outline (in English)

Every year, incidents related to public investment occur. For example, the typhoon that occurred two years ago caused great damage such as the disruption of roads and power transmission lines due to a large number of fallen trees from abandoned forests, and the collapse of the banks of the Chikuma and Abukuma rivers. Last year, there was a road collapse incident in a residential area on the tunnel construction route of the Tokyo Gaikan Expressway, and the problem of replanning the Kawabe River dam triggered by hydraulic control measures for the Kuma River, which was flooded by heavy rain . Causes of damage or damaged forests, roads, power lines, and embankments have been constructed by past public works. Public Works Theory I first explains the natural disasters that have been attracting attention recently, and then deals with Kakuei Tanaka, who played an important role in public investment, and the history of public investment. After that, we will explain the types and history of individual public works such as roads, rivers and dams. Through the class, I would like you to think about what Japan's public investment should be. Public Investment Theory I and Public Investment Theory II are interrelated, but since the lessons will be conducted so that the content can be understood even if only one of them is taken, it is welcome to take only Public Investment Theory I.
