Outline (in English)

Various inorganic and organic materials such as semiconductors, metals and dielectrics have been utilized in a wide area of modern technical fields. Optical technology provides non-contact nondestructive methods of measuring the properties of such materials and helps development of leading technologies.
This course introduces the principles of electromagnetic theory of optics and its application to measurement of optical characteristices of materials. The course will focus on the basic concept of polarization.
