In this seminar, whose theme is "Japanese business and society," students will learn about Japanese enterprises and their impact on the development of the Japanese economy and society. They will also improve their academic skills by preparing and making an academic presentation at 経済学部大会.

In this seminar, whose theme is "Japanese business and society," students will learn about Japanese enterprises and their impact on the development of the Japanese economy and society. They will also improve their academic skills by preparing and making an academic presentation at 経済学部大会.
到達目標Goal
The goal of the seminar is to guide students in their transition from a student to an active member of society. The main goals are (1) learning about/discussing Japanese business and society, (2) strengthening academic skills through research, including fieldwork; (3) enhancing leadership skills, (4) deepening global understanding, and (5) developing critical thinking skills. It is hoped that this seminar will stimulate students' intellectual curiosity as well as provide a space for building lasting friendships with the students they meet in and through the seminar..

(1) To explore why and how Japanese business developed and its impact on society through readings, discussions, and fieldwork.
(2) To complete a group research project and present the findings at the faculty of economics presentation competition in December.
*Because of the spread of COVID19, the course contents and methodology are subject to change. According to the current university policy, classes in 2021 will be held in the classroom. However, if the spread of the virus precludes having in-person classes, this course will be taught online via zoom.

成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
Grades are based on (1) participation in all classroom activities, class field trip, presentations, and outside activities (70%); (2) attitude (including being prepared for class), teamwork, attendance, seminar management, etc. (30%).
All students are required to make a presentation at the competition in December in order to pass this course. They must also participate in the leadership workshop, conduct a fieldwork project, and submit a course feedback form on the last day of class.
