One goal is to develop listening and thinking skills in English through the study of vocabulary and issues presented in the news.

Term 1: The goal of this course is to develop students' basic listening and presentation skills. Students will listen to lectures and watch videos related to time management and self development. They will study techniques for making positive changes in their lives and report weekly on an effort to improve.
Term 2:The goal of this term is to develop students' vocabulary, listening and reporting skills. The language of instruction will be English.

Term 2: Classroom activities will include watching videos, completing exercises and discussing news reports. The teacher may change activities, scoring or pace depending on student needs. Online from September.

Buy NHK Newsline. Kinseido. (red text). We will also use NHK Newsline 2. (last term's green text). Students must use dictionaries each week for class activities and homework.

成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
Term 1: Point breakdown: 40% participation, 40% weekly tests/homework, 20% final test. The objectives, course plan, materials and system for evaluation may be changed to better meet the needs of the learners.
Term 2: Point breakdown: 30% participation, 70% weekly homework. The objectives, course plan, materials and system of evaluation may be changed to better meet the needs of the learners.
