Outline (in English)

In this lesson we will learn how to research and read historical materials of modern history of Japan. Also think about Japanese diplomacy in historical materials.
Specifically, we will learn how to find and analysis documents such as diplomatic records, diaries, letters, reports, memoirs.
In 1937, Japan and China started a general war. The diplomatic negotiations between Japan and China had a great influence not only on the war itself but also on the way of Japan after the war. We will discuss how did diplomats' perceptions and diplomatic approaches influence China-Japan relations? And think about the possibility of diplomacy in the era of war.
