Outline (in English)

This course has four main points. The first point is to study the politics of Japan in the early 20th century, the period from the end of the Russo-Japanese War to the end of the Meiji Era. The second one is to study how Japan developed economy, industry, or life style in the above period as one of the Great Powers. The third is to get a basic information on the academic trends in the study of Japanese modern history. The fourth is to get clues for a comprehensive image of the 20th century Japan and a prospect on the 21st century Japan.
