Outline (in English)

This is a special topics course focusing on Mark Twain's Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Beginning with a historical survey of American slavery and the North-South divide the course offers a close reading of the novel. Through an intensive discussion on Twain's masterpiece and its film adaptations, students develop their skills to analyze literary texts in a critical way with focus both on their individuality and historicity. Most classes consist of quizzes, lectures, and group discussions.
