Outline (in English)

In this class, we will learn the basics of Kyogen, a classical art form. You may have seen Kyogen on TV or at art appreciation events in high school, but many of you may not know the relationship between Kyogen and Noh or its history. In this course, students will learn about the characteristics of Kyogen through representative performances. Kyogen is both a historical drama and a fictional world that reflects the culture of the times in which it was created. Through Kyogen, we will try to decipher the human character and the unrealistic play space of the middle and modern ages.
