Outline (in English)

This course aims at providing basic knowledge on the Development Economics, in terms of its major topics and key methodological approaches. The lecture covers the concept and measurements of poverty/inequality, microeconomic models of poor households, the basics of quantitative impact evaluation, and economic interpretation of specific development issues such as education, healthcare, migration, and environment. Every week, after the lecture, one or two student(s) present a reference article followed by an open class discussion. In addition, students are required to submit short works of data analysis (graphing, tabulation, etc.) related to the contents of the lecture.
