Outline (in English)

Theme: On Prote Ousia(first reality) in Aristotle

Among the Ousia(reality) that occupy an extremely important position in the Aristotelian philosophy, the “Prote Ousia(first reality)”,which is limited to “first”, is the core of that philosophy. However, the example of “Category”, which uses this term most frequently in terms of quantity, is not representative of all examples. Nevertheless, mainly for historical reasons, this so-called “individual” example has been regarded as a representative view. In this intensive lecture, the main texts of the relevant parts of “Category”, “Metaphysics”Ζ, and “Metaphysics”Λ, are comprehensively examined and considered, and search for the true meaning which Aristotle put them in “Prote Ousia”. And by exploring these issues, we aim to learn one way of philosophical thinking.
