Outline (in English)

Course Outline
Since museums are places where education is conducted using a variety of audiovisual materials (real objects, data, etc.), this course provides an overview of the analog and digital information currently handled by museums, including the utilization of data, and an overview of the audiovisual education methods implemented in museums and their characteristics. By experiencing some of these methods, students will learn about the educational methods used in museums and their significance, and acquire knowledge that can be used in museums and schools.

Learning Objectives
The goals of this course are to
(1) Understand the meaning of audiovisual education and various methods used in museums.
(2) Obtain basic skills about how to handle and utilize museum data and the basics of media literacy, such as copyright law, in order to understand how to handle data in the field of education.

Learning Activities Outside of Classroom
Students will be expected to find time to look at museums' website and visit museum exhibits to better understand the content of the lecture.
The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.

Grading Criteria /Policies
Final grade will be calculated according to the following process,
(1) Ordinary score (30%), (2) Assignments submitted during the lecture (30%), and (3) Test at the end of the lecture (40%).
Students will pass if they score 60% or more in total. However, students will fail the course if any of the items (1) through (3) are not completed.
