Outline (in English)
(Course outline)
The objective of this course is to acquire basic knowledge, conduct surveys and study themes related to the student’s major field of study in civil and environmental engineering.
(Learning Objectives)
Through collecting and reading domestic and foreign literature related to the theme of the master's thesis, conducting field surveys and collecting information, and conducting discussions, surveys, and research in order to perform research, students will aware and understand issues related to the theme and acquire basic problem-solving skills. The goal is to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to advance research related to the master's thesis.
(Learning activities outside of classroom)
Students should collect information related to their master's thesis theme from literature and books, and compile it to promote their own understanding. The standard time for preparation and review for this class is 2 hours each.
(Grading Criteria /Policy)
Interim presentations (30%) and wrap-up presentations (70%) will be evaluated.

陸水域の環境水工学に関わる研究テーマを対象として基礎的な学習や調査・研究を行う．
到達目標Goal
修士論文にかかわる研究を進めるために必要な知識・技術を修得することを目標とする．修士論文テーマに関わる国内外の文献等の収集と講読，現地調査と情報収集，研究を進める上での議論や調査・研究などを通じてテーマに関する問題意識を形成し，問題解決のための基礎能力を開発することを目標とする．

各学生は個々にテーマが与えられ，教員の直接指導をうけて，都市環境デザイン工学のそれぞれの分野での本質論の徹底追求をおこなうとともに，実地にものづくりをおこなうための方法論とその考え方を習得し，広く自由に応用できる能力を修得する．指導教員の研究室でおこなう高度の論議及び討論を通し，国際的な視野で研究内容を広く客観的に考える冷静な技術感覚が養成される．
陸水域の環境解析に必要な数理的素養と調査方法を習得するために，水理学・水文学・水質科学・生態学・流域の社会科学などに関する書籍・文献を講読し，担当教員・学部学生との議論を通して理解を深める．また，水圏環境学の基礎に関する国内外の研究動向を調査し，修士論文テーマの課題を設定する．
