Outline (in English)

This course is intended for beginners in Korean. It starts with reading and writing,and then introduces students to basic expressions in Korean using basic grammar rules.Emphasis is placed on similarities and differences between Korean and Japanese throughout the course.

The course will be starting from the Hangeul's literacy and acquisition of basic grammar. By the end of the course, students are expected to be able to do the simple conversation.

Before and after each class meeting, students are expected to spend about four hours of studying to understand the course. With the assumption, read the text book before class and submit the assignment every class. It is effective to expose to the language every day to improve your skill.

Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following

Finals        50%
Assignment      20%
Class contribution  30%

A passing score is 60 or up.
